Neurodevelopment
As a parent, you know your child's brain development can impact your child's learning abilities, behaviour and social performance. As your child grows, certain developmental stages are confronted in which your child learns to adapt and both intellectually and emotionally. It is vital for parents to keep an eye out for these neurodevelopmental changes to rule out any neurological conditions or developmental delays that could be affecting your little one. With Dr Böcking as your paediatrician, you can be assured your child's wellbeing is in good hands.
What are the signs to look out for?
Issues that may be of concern for parents are problems with reading, writing and/or math as well as organisation, time planning, abstract reasoning, long or short term memory and attention. These may be a sign of a learning disability such as dyslexia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD and ADD) and should be screened and monitored by your paediatrician.
Behavioural aspects like lack of empathy, poor socialisation skills with others and rigid behaviour may also indicate an underlying issue that affects neurodevelopment such as autism or mental illnesses such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
With his additional qualifications in Paediatric Neurodevelopment, Dr Böcking is a compassionate paediatrician able to help you understand the various developmental stages your child is going through, knowing what to look out for in terms of red flags as well as diagnose and assist parents and their little ones manage various developmental delays and learning disabilities.
