Developmental problems

Since children grow and develop rapidly in the first few years, your paediatrician will play an important role in ensuring your child is on track developmentally, reaching all the milestones for his or her age. During your general wellness check-ups, your child's growth and development will be assessed physically and cognitively.

  • Physically
From weight, height, head circumference and teeth to sitting up, crawling and walking, all aspects of physical development will be monitored and compared to growth and developmental standards. Since each child is unique, lagging behind in one of these aspects need not be worrisome and Dr Böcking will assist you in understanding the developmental process and how best to support your son or daughter in reaching achieving these goals through nutrition.
  • Cognitively
For many parents, encouraging children's intellectual development is a point of major concern. Aspects of social and cognitive development such as exploring basic senses, perceptual abilities, independence, curiosity, imitation and other cognitive-developmental traits will be monitored and since parents are in a unique position to help shape how their children learn, think, and develop, these aspects will be discussed with you as parents know what to expect from your child at each age.

He will give advice on ways that you can encourage your child's intellectual abilities, how to help him or her make sense of the world and help enhance his or her self-confidence.

Dr Böcking will also assist in assessing language and literacy capabilities and other basic activities that are important for school preparedness, and assist in enhancing your child's full potential.
